Upon closer examination, I think it has to do with the color
requirements (or similar) of the remote Windows. In my VMware, I run

Actually an additional criterion for these messages to appear is to run
VMware workstation on the remote server.
In this case, it's VMware Workstation 6.5.0.4558 running on Windows
Server 2008.
