I also noticed this on sites like ubuntuforums.org, where flash isn't
used.
It seems to be much better after going to about:config, searching for
options.jit and turning them both to false.

My FF 3.5.1 (on my AMD 64 9.04 Ubuntu system) just freezes up on this
site using 100% CPU (of one core), yet on FF 3.0.12 it works fine. I
have to go into System Manager to end the Firefox 3.5 process.

actually this would be a flash issue. do you have ubuntu 32bit or
64bit? are you using the open source or adobe flash? version 9 or 10?
please give us more information to help you resolve the problem.
