2010-12-12 Thread SoloTurn
Same happens with http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwl3945
(iwl3945). The wifi / wlan network connection dies at some point, and
only a

  sudo rmmod iwl3945
  sudo modprobe iwl3945

or a reboot can restore it.

2010-12-12 Thread SoloTurn
One has to mention that i tried the same hardware in a multi-boot
configuration. I.e. it was able to keep / restore the connection with
windows XP, while it was not with Linux.

[Bug 403455] Re: Intel 5300 wifi dies randomly

2010-09-17 Thread dvhart
I had similar problems with a 5300 in a ThinkPad T400 on Lucid. After
trying the latest linuxwireless backports and then a 2.6.36-rc4+compat-
wireless, I would see errors like:

[34400.190021] iwlagn :03:00.0: Failing on timeout while stopping DMA
channel 1 [0xa5a5a5a0]
[34400.190021] iwlagn :03:00.0: MAC is in deep sleep!. CSR_GP_CNTRL =
0x080003D8
[34400.190021] iwlagn :03:00.0: MAC is in deep sleep!. CSR_GP_CNTRL =
0x080003D8

After talking with the Intel wireless developers and trying everything
possible with module parameters and bios settings, this turned out to be
a hardware problem. I tried my harddrive in an identical T400 and it
worked. Consider calling Lenovo.

I have experienced no problems with Intel 5300 on a Thinkpad X200s since
I switche to Kernel 2.6.33 (rc) on Ubuntu Lucid (currently
2.6.33-020633rc8-generic).

I think this bug is the same to this other:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/352228

Somebody in charge please try to join both, so there is more
consciousness about this is happening and affects more people than it
looks.

[Bug 403455] Re: Intel 5300 wifi dies randomly

2009-12-19 Thread tpkuester
I can confirm this happens with my laptop as well. Removing and
modprobing iwlagn solves the problem.

I'm on an HP Elitebook 6930p.

Please let me know if I can contribute any more information to solve
this.

[Bug 403455] Re: Intel 5300 wifi dies randomly

2009-11-04 Thread Martin Rehn
I can confirm this on Karmic with 2.6.31-14, on an HP Elitebook 2530p.
The workaround rmmod iwlagn modprobe iwlagn works for me -- thank you
Chris! In the linked bugzilla entry it is claimed that there are patches
that may solve the bug:
http://bugzilla.intellinuxwireless.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2045#c9

It is not clear from the bugzilla message what is the status of those
patches. Have they been merged into a mainline kernel?

2009-10-26 Thread Ian Sullivan
Looks like I might be suffering from this bug instead:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/277634/

The above link to Fedora's site seems to still be relevant though.

[Bug 403455] Re: Intel 5300 wifi dies randomly

2009-10-23 Thread Ian Sullivan
I am experiencing this same bug, which I found additionally documented
over in Fedora's system:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=493018

I'm using a Thinkpad X61s

While it is true that I can generally fix the connection by doing a:

sudo rmmod iwlagn sudo modprobe iwlagn

That is not always enough to get network manager to re-recognize the
connection. I'm curious whether we should be unchecking the Enable
Wireless option before unloading/reloading the driver. In either case,
some more instructions or a different fix would help a lot.
