Hi. I produced 1.9.3-1.1 in Debian, which should fix this bug. Now it is
also in Ubuntu: could you please try if it solves this bug?
I've tried to install it from Maverick but I can't :

that could be used?

I downgraded to jaunty libopenexr6 ( http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty-
updates/libopenexr-dev ) and compiled qtpfsgui-1.9.2 from sourceforge
and it worked again.
Steps:
sudo apt-get build-dep qtpfsgui # install stuff needed to build the package
False alarm, EXR saving did not work, but no segfault. I was able to
save to HDR though.

Downgrading qtpfsgui to jaunty worked for me though. Now I can save EXR
images again.

I get this too under i386. The crash happens trying to save any HDR -
even if I load an HDR saved with the previous working version under
Jaunty and then try save it again I get the crash. This looks to be the
same bug as #53 filed in Debian back in July: http://bugs.debian.org
