[Bug 428309] Re: RAOP devices are not recognised

2010-01-26 Thread andypiper
I installed pulseaudio-module-zeroconf, pulseaudio-module-raop and
padevchooser on a new machine today. Immediately after installing,
pulseaudio could see the AE. After rebooting, it can no longer do see,
despite the zeroconf and raop modules being loaded by pulseaudio. So
there is still a lot of weirdness here.

2009-12-16 Thread andypiper
Not working for me... I have both the zeroconf module and raop modules
installed and the raop-discover just doesn't see the AE. I'll dig into
router config but right not this is a major pain :-(

[Bug 428309] Re: RAOP devices are not recognised

2009-12-16 Thread andypiper
Hmm. After kicking Airport Extreme and Express a bit, I found that avahi
started to identify the raop service on the Express, and it does now
seem to be working... so debug step would probably be use avahi-browse,
look for raop, if not there, restart routers etc...

[Bug 428309] Re: RAOP devices are not recognised

2009-11-18 Thread Philip Peitsch
Hi Dominic,

This functionality now works. I did have zeroconf installed at the time
as I was sharing sound between other pulseaudio server :)

I am suspecting that this may have been exacerbated by potential router
issues that was essentially screwing up the IP assignment. Maybe the
other programs were displaying AVAHI broadcast packets that arrived but
not making any attempts to connect... and I found after more hunting
that the Airport would drop off the network after a few moments if I
wasn't pinging it continually. I'm not sure what the original problem
was, but I have been quite happily playing music over the airport for
the last few weeks :)

For your tutorial, it might be worth mentioning that switching streams
mid-play to the RAOP output tends to make pulseaudio cranky. The best
way to play sound out a RAOP device I have found is to stop the sound,
set the default card to the RAOP device, and then start the playback
again. Otherwise I found the sound would break-up and stutter
continually... but that isn't relevant to this bug :)

this may be related to bug 484870 (unless you already have the zeroconf
module installed)
