2014-03-28 Thread David
I install Ubuntu 14.04 beta and the problem is still here.
This force me to continue in windows 7 and really a wish to use Ubuntu in my
everyday work.

I don't want to anybody fix this problem for me. I only want to know
where is the packet is responsible of this.

[Bug 438447] Re: Caps lock key press not responding fast enough

2012-06-14 Thread Dominic Blakey
Is this anywhere nearer to being resolved? I find this highly
irritating. And the fact is I don't want to use Shift instead of Caps
Lock. I'm used to my method, and I don't understand why Ubuntu has to be
different to basically every other OS on this issue, it only irritates
people.

[Bug 438447] Re: Caps lock key press not responding fast enough

2012-04-22 Thread jeremy t
SAme problem. I was taught to use shift key but somewhere along the line
changed to caps lock.

TYping speed potential can be higher for some people using caps lock
because it avoids the process requiring the brain to perform a
simultaneous key press.

IF you can press three keys faster than pressing two keys
simultaneously, then you should be using caps lock. IT comes down to
brain-hand coordination speed and what feels more logical for the
individual. I use my left pinky finger to quickly double tap the caps
lock key whilst sneaking a character in between with another finger...
it feels less interruptive and more efficient for me. I've always
experienced a slight stall in speed with the simultaneous key press
which renders it a slower process, but this may not be the same for
everyone.

Hope the problem can be fixed - it's a legitimate problem with the OS.
LInux of all systems should be catering for speed typers.. MAybe I just
need a faster CPU

I recommend using caps lock instead of shift to type capital letters to
allow more flexibility in the hand that you would normally use shift
with. - Typing tips from the fastest typist, Sean Wrona

[Bug 438447] Re: Caps lock key press not responding fast enough

2011-07-30 Thread Omer Omer
Pretty sad to see this has been reported 2 years ago and yet not fixed (or
at-least improved).
THis (ugh, This) problem is a real pain for people who are used to capitalize
using CAPS-LOCK, especially when writing passwords (where you can't actually
see what you type, and then make mistakes like PAssword instead of Password).
Actually I just found out today that I'm part of a really really small group
that uses caps locks to capitalize, I thought people use it more than shift...

[Bug 438447] Re: Caps lock key press not responding fast enough

2011-01-11 Thread Mehmet Ali Anıl
This is not the case for me, I still have this problem although my Caps
LOck key enables when I press it and disables with a second one. It is
only detectable when you are typing something really fast, like your
name with capitalized first letters, or your password if it has caps.

On my computer capitalization is also enabled on press, but disabled on
release. This seems inconsistent, so I'm going to mark this issue as
confirmed. But I don't know what package is responsible of this.

On my 1005ha, it enables capitalization on press, but disables it on
release, so sometimes I'll just make a typo where I double-capitalize
the first word of a sentence. LIke this.

[Bug 438447] Re: Caps lock key press not responding fast enough

2009-10-02 Thread Martin Meredith
This is also a bit of a problem for me in a bit of a strange way too...

I generally use vim for editing files, so to exit out of a file, I use
:wq - I tend to end up on a regular basis writing

:Wq instead of :wq

This is only happening on my laptop, and it's pretty darned annoying.
