Problem: A message of "Too many open files" appears in Nautilus (seen in
the attach image). Then after that any icon you select in Nautilus
becomes an uknown file and icon changes. And if you try to copy or pa

I too am getting this problem. I am using latest Edgy for evolution and
uw-imap with an imap connection mainly. However, I have other
connections, some active, some not, to various other makes of imap
server (including exchange).
I have probably got a 100 or so folders altogether. Every couple of
I recently upgraded to Edgy and are hiving these quite regularly
I have multiple accounts setup (3) syncing between an IMAP server using
offlineimap.
I noticed a directory called: ".#evolution" and in starting / stopping a
couple of times I get the following msg in a dialog.:

long and therefore evolution is restarted very often.

It's a bit hard to increase the max open files limit as an ordinary user
when the default hard limit is 1024.
ulimit/limit is builtin in the shell, so you have to check the man page
of the shell.

ulimit -n 10240

No, not that I know of. 'ulimit -n' says 1024, which as far as I know still is
the default.
When changing max open files to 10240 the error disappears.

It happens to me as well, although it can take a few days. I am using an
imap server (uw-imap). I will try running it with CAMEL_DEBUG and see
what happens.
