Public bug reported: While I personally detest kpackagekit and have continued using Adept on Karmic Koala, there seems to be no way around it because every now and then a KPackageKit message pops up telling me there are available updates.
Sometimes I then using adept or 'apt-get upgrade' to install the upgrades, but today I gave in and clicked the 'Update now' button in KPackageKit. And wham, it disappeared out of the system tray, doing nothing. I ended up still installing the updates manually. This is not the first time this happens, but somehow I cannot seem to be able to get apport to collect any data about the crash. If I do, I'll try to attach it. Another annoyance is that when installing updates with kpackagekit it needs administrative privileges, I get a GTK popup screen asking for my password instead of the nice kdesudo screen. This doesn't seem right, but might be a different issue. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- KPackageKit crashing on Karmic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/453798 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
