Erm.. When this happened to me it wasn't really a bug with package sun- java6-jre. What happened to me was that Ubuntu stopped recognizing my mouse clicks and I couldn't get the keyboard to navigate through the installation thing (alt-f would not select Forward) so I had to reboot in the middle of
