My first crash in two months -- so they at least have been less frequent
for me since disabling compiz.
syslog:

black sreen then gdm login. Two or three crashes per day.

Mar 31 19:58:05 jiom-desktop console-kit-daemon[753]: GLib-GObject-CRITICAL:

Same problem here. Here is the syslog dump:
Mar 30 10:09:01 vbox01 console-kit-daemon[789]: GLib-GObject-WARNING: instance
of invalid non-instantiatable type `invalid'
Mar 30 10:09:01 vbox01 console-kit-daemon[789]: GLib-GObject-CRITICAL:
g_signal_emit_valist: assertion `G_TYPE_CHECK_INSTANCE
I also seem to have this problem: xorg crashes, console is showed up for
a second and then back to kdm login. Syslog:
Mar 16 10:05:58 pau kdm[1010]: X server for display :0 terminated unexpectedly
Mar 16 10:05:58 pau console-kit-daemon[1057]: GLib-GObject-WARNING: instance
with invalid (NULL)
Same problem here - second crash in two days. Things running: Bluefish
(actively typing in it, crashed on pressing enter), Google Chrome,
lighttpd and mysql.
syslog:
Mar 15 19:22:24 home gdm-simple-slave[6135]: WARNING: Unable to load file
'/etc/gdm/custom.conf': Нет такого файла или каталога
Sorry, perhaps I wrote to soon - can't find any consolekit messages
(have same version), but other symptoms are same.

X11 session closes all aps and returns to gdm login screen after
console-kit-daemon message

You received this bug notification because
I've been running stable for over five weeks now *after* disabling
Compiz. Note that I was also stable before running compiz.

My money is on old_session being corrupted in change_active_session in
src/ck-seat.c,
or rather that seat-priv-active_session is being accessed as another thread
is freeing it,
or that it is just NULL in the first place. It's not obvious to me where this
is happening though.
I don't think this
Third of these crashes in the past two weeks. In at least two of the
instances, the console-kit errors were preceded by a segfault in
virtualbox (v 3.1.2 r56127). Whereas this system is normally stable,
these recent crashes are happening after just a couple days of uptime.

Similar crash. System dropped to a terminal for a few seconds, then
pulled up GDM login.
This is on a fresh install of 9.10 where I just added a 3ware RAID card
enabled compiz again. Prior to those changes, the system has been
stable for 2+ months.
ubuntu 9.10, i386
compiz 0.8.4
virtualbox
The similar crash. But with VirtualBox 3.1.2 exception emitted.
(Ubuntu 9.10 x86_64, Athlon 64 3200+, onboard nVidia video, Compiz enabled)
