Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This particular bug has already been reported and is a
duplicate of bug 524454, so it is being marked as such. Please look
same problem here, but restarting network-manager does not help.
Sometimes going to hibernate(suspend to disk) helps, but not always, as I
realized just now.

I got the same problem after suspend. Restarting networkmanager helps.
Hovering with mouse-arrow over the nwm-icon shows:Benutzerlegitimierung
für mobile Breitbandverbindung wird benötigt (user authentification
needed).
