[Bug 489926] Re: memtest86+ fails to boot when GRUB and the system filesystem are on separate disks
just having GRUB in the MBR of a different disk then Linux is on doestn't cause this. Do you have a seperate /boot partition? Then this is a duplicate of 450351 which is already fixed in lucid. ** Package changed: grub2 (Ubuntu) = memtest86+ (Ubuntu) -- memtest86+ fails to boot when GRUB and the system filesystem are on separate disks https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/489926 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 489926] Re: memtest86+ fails to boot when GRUB and the system filesystem are on separate disks
Actually it doestn't matter. It's fixed in lucid now that 20_memtest86+ finally uses prepare_grub_to_access_device() ** Changed in: memtest86+ (Ubuntu) Status: New = Fix Released -- memtest86+ fails to boot when GRUB and the system filesystem are on separate disks https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/489926 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Yes, I do have a separate /boot partition, as I do on a single disk installation where memtest86+ loads correctly, leading to my allegedly incorrect diagnosis! -- memtest86+ fails to boot when GRUB and the system filesystem are on separate disks https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/489926 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Yes, I do have a separate /boot partition, as I do on a single disk installation where memtest86+ loads correctly, leading to my allegedly incorrect diagnosis! Sincere apologies for the above. I had forgotten that the single disk system is the *only* one I have that doesn't keep /boot in a separate partition.
