Actually I just fixed this bug. Turns out in the Sound Preferences
applet under hardware it was set as Analog Stereo Output. It should
have been Analog Stereo Duplex.
So I guess I'll mark this as invalid.

If it helps. I believe the microphone functioned perfectly on 9.04. I
was wondering if there was a backport or something.
