This was originally reported for Ubuntu Dapper, then Etch was later
mentioned as having the same problem.
I have not tried Ubuntu on my U10 (with Elite3D), but I was having the exact
same problem with Etch
until I started the install with install video=atyfb:off.
Installer started fine after
I've tried netbooting an Ultra 10. All of the 2.4 kernels I've tried
from gentoo work. All of the other kernels I've tried from gentoo,
debian and ubuntu, which are all 2.6, fail in various ways.
I've tried dapper, edgy and feisty builds of the netboot image. They all

I removed the card, and used the built-in one. Ubuntu now boots past
Booting Linux. and the install begins. I'm guessing this confirms
it is a video card problerm.
Thanks,
Chris.

Hi,
After many comments on the Ubuntu forums, I believe that the problem is
definetly related to Xorg and the Creator video card.
I haven't removed my card yet, so that the Sun FFB is used, so can't
verify this tonight.
I think this bug should be assigned to Xorg maintainers, though.
Thanks,
Hello Chris,

boot was stuck with Booting Linux...
I actually also removed the 2 old PGX32 i had in my U10.

I have just added the following to the Ubuntu forums, after a comment
from Recupero who suggested that video cards may be the problem. I
should add, that the CD does not continue to be read when the install
fails, this suggests that the install is not continuing, and not just
that it is not being
Hi,
It's an Edgy ISO, but it doesn't get as far as starting the install. Just

Fabio,
I have just tried today's Edgy build 2108. Still the same PC no_rtc found
problem (used install -p at the boot prompt.
Sorry.
Thanks,
Chris.

Hi,
Tried this at the boot prompt:
install -p
This failed again, but some extra text was given.
The last line before it failed was:
rtc_init: no PC rtc init found
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Chris.
