Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org-writer

In OpenOffice.org 3.1.1 (from the Ubuntu repositories), the letter wizard fails
to start: After calling the wizard from the menu (German version
"Datei->Assistenten->Brief...", translates to something like
"File->Wizards->Letter...") happens --- just nothing :-/

 And it's the same with other wizards (German version "Fax", "Agenda" and
"Web-Seiten", translates to something like "facsimile", "agenda" and
"webpages").

Sun Java 1.6.0 is installed in two alternative flavors:
 - /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.15/jre (standard installation)
 - /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre (manually added)
 Activating either in Extras->Option->OpenOffice.org->Java makes no visible
difference as to the above failure.

With Java deactivated (got this hint in a German forum), OOo complains
(see attachment) - as one would have expected - about needing a JRE for
starting the letter wizard and asks if the same should now be activated.
The same error message contains a further hint: The package openoffice
.org-java-common needs to be installed! (And indeed this solves the
problem.)

Where a package is vital for a function, this one should either be
installed by default or at the very least be proposed for installation
when the function is called!
