Ok, now I understand. The message you received is a message that states
that the unmount process is still in progress. I'm sure that no actual
writing happened in your case.
Were you really able to create directories and files? I'm not able to do
this with regular CD-RWs (using ISO9660).

After the operation the CD appears to have the same contents as before.
That is UDF v 1.50 with packet writing and a some files on it.
