In Ubuntu-10.10 i dont see any 'Interface' tab so could anyone tell if
there is a gconf key that I could use to reproduce this issue?

the gconf key is /desktop/gnome/interface/can_change_accels

this kind of makes fixing the bugs a little less of an issue if the pref
is going to be hidden; they might remove it entirely soon enough,
rendering this bug moot
that's not to say i agree with the bug or removing this functionality

Can't you confirm with where it was reported? my internet access has a
cap and I cant keep up with development versions. I'm very excited that
it might work correctly in lucid, and will use it when its released; but
right now I'm more concerned with whether it is confirmed as is in
karmic
works

Ah sorry, I should have been more clear; Appearance - Interface means
System (menu) - Preferences - Appearance - Interface (tab), under
which is a checkbox to enable editable shortcuts; Editable menu
shortcut keys

I can't reproduce it on Lucid so I'm marking the bug as Fix released.
As it was also confirmed by Nigel on Karmic I'm going to nominate it for
this release.

ok, I've actually played some more with this bug as I was wondering where it
comes from (and how hard would it be to fix it in Karmic) and it looks like
I've made a mistake - I've originally bound it to Ctrl+L and it worked just
fine, I've also bound it to Ctrl+S but probably haven't tested it
