could you please check if you have cross-fading enabled in rhythmbox
preferences. disabling it should probably solve the issue for you. also
there have been a lot of changes in rhythmbox since this bug was
reported and would be really helpful if you could check if the issue is
still there with a
rechecked with maverick and a 2.6.37 kernel:

Are you using the same CD? Can you try with a different CD to ensure
that your CD doesn't have issues, which is causing this?

2 different cds on 2 notebooks. just tried a third cd. this time it took
about 25 seconds to get it to stop playback.
of course this is a first impression issue. the user will know better than to
attempt this again.
on faster desktop drives it might work, don't know.
