apt-cacher-ng has its own avahi support now and works happily with
squid-deb-proxy-client for discovery.

[Bug 529897] Re: Please add avahi support to others deb proxies

2010-12-06 Thread Carl Karsten
How backwards compatible are the 2 sides?

Do I need to upgrade both sides (client and server) or will new clients
work with old servers and old server+new client? (or whatever you call
the 2 parts to the avahi part - client and server doesn't seem right.)

I skimmed over the patch, and I didn't see anything looking like it would fall
back to the previous values if
"+# PROVIDER must be passed by upstart events." doesn't happen.

I'll be happy to test this under maverick and natty if you will put it
in a PPA. I do a bit of testing of automated installs, so it should get
a bit of a work out.

[Bug 529897] Re: Please add avahi support to others deb proxies

2010-03-01 Thread Marcelo Boveto Shima
This patch does the following:
 - rename the package squid-deb-proxy-client to deb-proxy-avahi-client
 - creates a package deb-proxy-avahi that contains the avahi upstart
 - make the avahi upstart script use the port passed as parameter and
uses a "PROVIDER" parameter to identify the event owner.
