Similar results here to Yusef on an Intel D945GCLF Atom motherboard I've md5sum checked the CD and run memtest - both fine. Both x86 and amd64 versions of Ubuntu 8.04.1 desktop install fine. But trying to install amd64 Ubuntu 8.10 alternate gives a kernel panic early in the process. Running

A quick update I can still only boot the Samsung R560 with AMD64 if I use the acpi=off boot parameter (only using this one at the moment, I do try it without after each new update). I have applied all the patches and updates that come down from the usual ubuntu amd64 repositories and the problem
