[Bug 542491] Re: Lucid no support Linksys WUSB100v2

2013-09-10 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Areku_B, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number

Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the daily folder,
but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel,
please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is
fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.11

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

[Bug 542491] Re: Lucid no support Linksys WUSB100v2

2010-09-02 Thread Martijn van Hoesel
The RT2870STA driver is present in the staging folder but won't work with the
v2. The driver doesn't recognize the 1737:0078 device.
After downloading and installing the RT2870STA driver RaLink, still no success.
Because I modified the rtusb_dev_id.c file, the driver does associate with the
device but it doesn't work properly. It can't see any AP's to associate with
and manual association fails.
In the end, I got the WUSB100v2 working with the RT3070STA driver from RaLink,
which has a nickname RT2870. Modified the rtusb_dev_id.c file to add the
1737:0078. Works like a charm.

[Bug 542491] Re: Lucid no support Linksys WUSB100v2

2010-05-07 Thread Areku_B
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

I am a Ubuntu newbie, trying to get a good fix for my USB WiFi, other forums
and terminal judo have not worked.
Since this affects the WiFi adapter, I have no internet access on the actual
Ubuntu machine.

  uname -a
  Linux ubuntu 2.6.32-16generic #25-Ubuntu SMP Tue Mar 9 16:33:12 UTC 2010
x86_64 GNU/Linux
  cat /proc/version_signature
  Ubuntu 2.6.32-16.25-generic
  dmesg
sorry too long for me to retype all of the output here
  sudo lspci -vnvn
again, too long for me to copy all, but the USB info basically looks like
this:
00:1a.0 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) USB
UHCI Controller #4 [8086:3a37]
Subsystem: Acer Incorporated [ALI] Device [1025:0250]
(abridged for my having to write this down by hand and later transfer to
a computer with internet access)
  Kernel driver in use: uhci_hcd

I have had problems with this WiFi adapter since 9.04 and the regular Ubuntu
forums were unable to resolve my issue.
The USB WiFi adapter is the Linksys RangePlus Wireles Network USB Adapter,
WUSB100ver2. It does not show up in Network Manager or iwconfig at all. It does
show up as follows:

  lsusb
  Bus 001 Device 005: ID 1737:0078 Linksys

From looking at the other forums, it appears people also have issues with a
different Linksys USB WiFi adapter that shows up as 1737:0070 as well.
And of course it should support WPA2 and other WiFi security as well.

- I would one day like to have the technical skill to figure this out on
- my own, but this is way over my head. I appreciate your support and
- assistance. Other than this WiFi issue, I am a big fan of Ubuntu! Keep
- up the great work!!! Thank you very much!

[Bug 542491] Re: Lucid no support Linksys WUSB100v2

2010-05-07 Thread Areku_B
So I have updated to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and the problem persists.

10.4 LTS still identifies the Linksys WUSB 100v2 as device ID 1737:0078
Linksys, but will not operate the device.

I followed instructions in the Ubuntu forums to add the RT3070STA
driver, which can then recognize the device, however it cannot connect
to WPA2 WiFi. See all the specific data uploaded above.

To get network connectivity, I ended up buying a 50ft cat5e cable to
reach my nearest network device. I would still like to see this problem
resolved as I think that improved support for common hardware
(especially regarding networking) makes the switch to Ubuntu more
practical for more users.

Thank you to everyone in the development process, so far I'm very
impressed with the improvements and look of 10.4!

[Bug 542491] Re: Lucid no support Linksys WUSB100v2

2010-04-27 Thread Jeremy Foshee
Hi Areku_B,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it
recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the
latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach
updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 542491

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be
great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.
Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be
done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the
bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.
Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.
