Maybe not as long as 30 seconds but still very annoying.
The computer freezes , the disk stops spinning, I can only move the mouse
pointer on purple them (my theme is black after login). Everything else comes
to complete stop.
This happened with beta1 and clean install of beta2,

You'll need to do a bit more analysis (try bootchart) to see what is
causing the pause. For instance, try disabling compiz.
