[Bug 555393] Re: ubuntu 10.04 beta desktop effects could not be enabled
Alright, it looks like we've found the problem: You're running a failsafe GNOME session. Log out, click the Sessions button, and switch it back to regular GNOME then login and enable compiz via the Appearance UI. ** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Invalid -- ubuntu 10.04 beta desktop effects could not be enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/555393 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Alright, that doesn't actually show compiz even trying to start. Can you run `compiz` from a terminal and paste the output here? I have a feeling compiz is actually working but gnome-appearance-properties is messing up. ** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- ubuntu 10.04 beta desktop effects could not be enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/555393 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 555393] Re: ubuntu 10.04 beta desktop effects could not be enabled
shadyro...@dell-desktop:~$ compiz Detected GNOME failsafe session. Launching fallback window manager This is all I could get. Nothing else would print out. If I try to close the terminal I get this message-There is still a process running in this terminal. Closing the terminal will kill it. Hope this helps! Also, screensaver won't start. I don't know if that is pertinent, but I believe some of that depends on compiz. Thanks for your help. [Bug 555393] Re: ubuntu 10.04 beta desktop effects could not be enabled
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in compiz. (With many applications, you can report a future bug directly on the appropriate package by opening the application's Help menu and choosing Report a Problem. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs) ** Package changed: ubuntu = compiz (Ubuntu) -- ubuntu 10.04 beta desktop effects could not be enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/555393 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
