Public bug reported: Binary package hint: acpi
This maybe completely the wrong place for this issue - should I go to the manufacturer? lm-sensors? If this is the right place then just to say that the fan dir is empty which I, as I understand, leaves me without any possibilty to control the fans. I don't have any critical issues, only that it / they run constantly and very loudly, and I would LOVE some peace and quiet. CPU temperatures are ok (40 - 50 mark). I bought this machine with vista on it (the fan story was exactly the same) and if my memory serves me correctly this issue part of the inspiration to make the switch over to Ubuntu! So it's not that I'm complaining! In the attachment is as much relevant information to with sensors that I could find. If the "bug report" is the wrong place any hints as to what / where I could go with it would be very gratefully received. Thanks in advance! PS - I looked in the BIOS (and there was nothing there relevant to fans) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: acpi 1.4-2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-21.32-generic 2.6.32.11+drm33.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-21-generic x86_64 Architecture: amd64 Date: Thu Apr 29 20:13:37 2010 ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: acpi ** Affects: acpi (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug lucid -- /proc/acpi/fan dir empty on acer aspire 5536G - no fan control https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/571827 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
