I just bought an Acer Aspire 5820TG and had the same problem before upgrading BIOS from 1.13 to 1.19. I tried the mainline kernel for Lucid, version 2.6.35-rc1, my Ubuntu does not even boot with this version. Declining the Lucid and Maverick specific nominations for now and leaving this open against the actively developed Ubuntu kernel (which happens to be Maverick at this time). Will re-open the nominations should a fix be narrowed down which we can confirm specifically resolves this issue in Lucid and Maverick and qualifies for a Stable Release Update. -- Either battery status icon not being shown, or the icon showing "Laptop battery is charged". https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/577825 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I had this bug in Ubuntu 10.04 with Acer Aspire 5745G. Acer released an update of BIOS (to v. 1.15) and this bug not appeared anymore. http://www.acer.co.uk/acer/service.do?LanguageISOCtxParam=en&miu10einu24.current.attN2B2F2EEF=3734&sp=page15e&ctx2.c2att1=17&miu10ekcond13.attN2B2F2EEF=3734&CountryISOCtxParam=UK&ctx1g.c2att92=122&ctx1.att21k=1&CRC=2980211862 -- Either battery status icon not being shown, or the icon showing "Laptop battery is charged". https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/577825 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 577825] Re: Either battery status icon not being shown, or the icon showing "Laptop battery is charged".
Hmm. This problem has recently appeared for me on my Toshiba Satellite A200 running amd64 Maverick with the 2.6.35-14 kernel. I don't get an icon at all, and no battery tab in gnome power manager. Been running Ubuntu since 8.10 on this laptop and this problem has only cropped up recently. I also don't get notifications when I adjust screen brightness anymore, I think that's related. Hi cshong, If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. I have the same problem with Acer Aspire 5745G. The icon of battery shows the battery always charged (100%). I think that there is this problem because the notebook is too new! [Bug 577825] Re: Either battery status icon not being shown, or the icon showing "Laptop battery is charged".
Hi all, I am also using Ubuntu 10.04 amd64 on a HP dv3000 and the same problem occurs! First the icon on the general tab disappeared, I re-stablish using the following commands: gconftool-2 --shutdown rm -rf ~/.gconf/apps/panel pkill gnome-panel Now the problem is, when charging mode, the icon displays correctly the grey bar updated with the remaining percentage to complete de charge but when using only the battery to power my computer the icon is always charged to 100%. If I click on the icon and choose the first option I can see 37% but nevertheless the icon is always full load (100%).
