Sorry, for posting on an old issue, but it seems to be getting worse :(
On 12.04, Docky only used to close/crash when installing new packages.
Since 14.04, it disappears every few minutes.
On 16.04.1, Docky won't even start anymore :(

Docky randomly crashes, usually
I started Docky from a terminal, and then left my laptop to hibernate,
after waking the laptop Docky had crashed with an exception. I've
attached the crash log. I am running 64-bit Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 LTS on a
dell XPS-13. dpkg reports docky as being version 2.2.0-2

The solution from coolman seems to work, but it's not that elegant
because it just restarts docky after it crashes each time you pull the
plug or suspend. This is certainly an excellent work-around, but I hope
there's a better solution.
