Yes this problem still exists in 13.04.
It is an internal floppy.
I have been using the following work around:
comment out floppy line in /etc/fstab
sudo mount -t vfat /dev/fd0 /media/floppy0
read/write floppy as needed
before removing floppy:
sudo umount /media/floppy0

Nemo does not show any floppy Icon.
I ran Nautilus and yes, clicking on the icon brought up the directory of the

Every time I go to use the floppy disk, I find it broken and need to
hack my system to fix it.
I just did a clean install of 11.04, and the first thing I found was
that, as Ian pointed out, my user did not have permission to access the
floppy drive. But giving my user access did not solve the

In other words, this bug still confirmed.
Sorry, but for anyone who wanted to switch from Windows to Linux for
human beings this bug can be a reason to not even attempt any further

and Groups-Advanced Settings-User Privileges and click on Use floppy drives
2. Use the old version of udisks () by going to
System-Administration-Synaptic Package Manager, find the udisks
