I think since the problem has been found, but as yet not fixed, that it
is safe to mark this bug as Triaged. A blueprint has been added for

Could we have a warning about incorrect paper-size setting in the UBUNTU
installation notes? This could reduce the printing problems associated with
pagesize and give more time to solve the underlying problems. Most users are
unaware of the pagesize file but they really understand problems with

You hit the nail on the head! My printer is using A4, while my programs
where printing in Letter.
The issue is now resolved for me.

alex_b, I do not see anything wrong in your error_log and in your
captured printout. What is the standard paper size which you are using
in your printer? A4 or Letter?

This bug affects me too. I have Ubuntu 10.04 (amd64) and also a Lexmark
T640 printer (connected through the network). The problems are not
specific to particular documents. I have attached the error_log file
(with debugging information enabled as described here

In Ubuntu 10.4, after launching Print, the document is sent to the printer
and then immediately cancelled. Exactly the same happens whether connected via
USB or Ethernet.

I can't attach an error log because I have uninstalled Lucid and installed
Karmic, otherwise it is impossible to print!
But I will install Lucid on another disk so that I can attach the log file.
It happens to all documents, whether printing from Firefox or from Open
Office
