Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libbabl-0.0-0

Everytime I try to install anything, the dpkg exits with a number of
error messages pertaining to libbabl. Despite the errors, installations
seem to work.

This problem started about 4 weeks ago, and I have no idea what
triggered it.

I'm running a clean install of lucid 32bit on a Dell Inspiron 1501
laptop.
