It seems to work fine now, with the latest updates! It may be linked
with the upgrade to gnome 2.16.1. Yesterday I have taken a look at
mandriva 2007 and it didn't work (they are using gnome 2.16). So, I hope
the problem will be fix on dapper, because on edgy it works like a
charm!

This is slightly bizarre behaviour. With the gauge empty, could you run
the following commands:
$ lshal 21 | tee /tmp/lshal.log
$ gnome-session-remove gnome-power-manager
$ gnome-power-manager --no-daemon --verbose 21 | tee /tmp/gpm.log
Then go through your steps two and three,
Well, I am the only user with this kind of problem? It may be an acpi
problem, but nobody seems to care...
