[Bug 602558] Re: Flash Player does not show any indication of the video

[Bug 602558] Re: Flash Player does not show any indication of the video
The support team at http://funnyordie.com/ helped me find the answer. Their answer is: Go to http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager03.html (this is the website from Adobe company), and make sure you have checked Allow third party flash content to store data on your computer. That should let you watch flash players. This works. I notice that the latest version of Flash Player 10 crashes sometimes. Has someone reported Flash Player 10 crashing? If it has been reported, can you send me a link to it? If there is a bug report for the crashing, how did you find it? Should I consider the crashing a security threat? If the crashing has not been reported, how do I go about reporting it? Should I be the one to close this bug? (602558) If so, how do I close a bug? Thanks again for all of your help. -- Flash Player does not show any indication of the video https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/602558 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 602558] Re: Flash Player does not show any indication of the video
One of the sites got back to me and suggested the problem might be ad blocking software. I did not see anything that looked like ad blocking software, did I miss interpret some of the data above and I actually have ad blocking software running? The site answering me gave me a link to where they tell me the video is sourced. I have all of the same symptoms as I described previously. I tried several other videos on this Web Site and I was not able to figure out how to play any of those videos either. I have included window-shot of the Web Site. ** Attachment added: Screenshot-Kittens Nod to the Beat from That Happened - Video - Mozilla Firefox.png http://launchpadlibrarian.net/52232627/Screenshot-Kittens%20Nod%20to%20the%20Beat%20from%20That%20Happened%20-%20Video%20-%20Mozilla%20Firefox.png -- Flash Player does not show any indication of the video https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/602558 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 602558] Re: Flash Player does not show any indication of the video
I forgot to mention that someone posted a comment that sounds very similar to my situation: me says: July 19, 2010 at 10:36 pm Is this version of the rainbow song on youtube anywhere? My computer is not showing even the box for this video and I love the rainbow guy. [Bug 602558] Re: Flash Player does not show any indication of the video
Sorry for the confusion. It looks like I misread the report. As I reexamine the report in my last message, it looks like only adobe- flashplugin is installed: adobe-flashplugin: Installed: 10.1.53.64-1 Candidate: 10.1.53.64-1 Version table: *** 10.1.53.64-1 0 500 http://archive.canonical.com hardy/partner Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status -- Flash Player does not show any indication of the video https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/602558 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 602558] Re: Flash Player does not show any indication of the video
It looks like both flashplugin-nonfree 10.0.1.218+really9.0.277.0ubuntu1 AND adobe-flashplugin 10.1.53.64-1 are installed. I seriously doubt I would have discovered this without your help. Several weeks ago, I asked someone about installing Flash Player 10.1 because I have been to several Web Sites that indicate I do not have Flash Player 10 so they are unable to provide the Flash content on their Web Site. They told me to run the sudo apt-get remove --purge flashplugin-nonfree command to remove the installed version of Flash Player and then go to Adobe's Web Site and install the Adobe Flash Player for my OS. I installed .deb for Ubuntu 8.04+ from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/. I am not sure how to proceed or how to find out what the pros and cons are for each version of Flash Player; I just know you want the latest version of any Flash Player (10.0.highest version) (10.1.highest version) due to security vulnerabilities related to Flash Player. Here are the results of the command: graph...@freekbox:~$ apt-cache policy flashplugin-nonfree swfdec-mozilla mozilla-plugin-gnash adobe-flashplugin flashplugin-nonfree: Installed: (none) Candidate: 10.0.1.218+really9.0.277.0ubuntu1 Version table: 10.0.1.218+really9.0.277.0ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hardy-updates/multiverse Packages 500 http://security.ubuntu.com hardy-security/multiverse Packages 10.0.1.218+10.0.0.525ubuntu1~hardy1+really9.0.124.0ubuntu2 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hardy-backports/multiverse Packages 9.0.124.0ubuntu2 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/multiverse Packages swfdec-mozilla: Installed: (none) Candidate: 0.6.0-2ubuntu1 Version table: 0.6.0-2ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/universe Packages mozilla-plugin-gnash: Installed: (none) Candidate: 0.8.2-0ubuntu3 Version table: 0.8.2-0ubuntu3 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/universe Packages adobe-flashplugin: Installed: 10.1.53.64-1 Candidate: 10.1.53.64-1 Version table: *** 10.1.53.64-1 0 500 http://archive.canonical.com hardy/partner Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status graph...@freekbox:~$ -- Flash Player does not show any indication of the video https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/602558 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 602558] Re: Flash Player does not show any indication of the video
I'm confused, it looks like only adobe-flashplugin is installed at the moment. Thank you for the update. Please provide the results of the following command run in a terminal: apt-cache policy flashplugin-nonfree swfdec-mozilla mozilla-plugin-gnash adobe-flashplugin This will let us know what flash players you have installed so that we can better diagnose your issue. This might show more information than about:plugins with regard to the Flash players.
Sorry for the delay. I had some hardware problems and needed someone to help fix the problem, fixed now. I have used command line interfaces before, but I only have a rudimentary understanding of BASH. I am not afraid to dig in if you need my assistance. If you see any potential conflicts with the installed plugins, please let me know, even if they appear unrelated to my problem so I can avoid some kind of an unknown problem and potentially other problems. From the browser typing about:plugins in the Address area of Firefox I see: Installed plugins Find more information about browser plugins at mozilla.org.
