Public bug reported:

Akonadi is needed for Kontact, the KDE groupware suite; a crash of the
akonadiserver renders one unable to access the contacts database
containing email addresses and phone numbers. Initially I thought this
was a problem with akonadiserver, but further digging suggests it's a
