I'm using version 0.3.8.1 too
I found that the real bug is not there but in lines
193 { use-jack, '\0',
194 POPT_ARG_STRING | RMD_USE_JACK_EXTRA_FLAG, arg_return-x,
RMD_ARG_USE_JACK,
replacing arg_return-x with 0 fix this issue
