Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

I followed directions to upgrade my 8.04 LTS server install to 10.04 LTS
on http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/upgrade under "Network
upgrade for Ubuntu servers (Recommended)" Upon completion, the system
identifies itself as Maverick. I put a bit more detail in a post
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=9784929#post9784929

The bug report includes information from the system post upgrade.

I'm not sure if the bug is in the upgrade package or the way the
maverick betas are identified in the repos. It seems to me that the
upgrade package improperly identified the Maverick repos as the next LTS
candidage.
