I also have this problem, with nvidia-current 260.19.06-0ubuntu1 on
amd64. The recommended fix script above fixed it.

Aslo on computer that has graphic card with two outputs (alanog +
digital) instalation selects analog output only, causing it unable to
see anything with digital cable only...
Not sure how to report instalation problem so I'll just post here...
