Same here. Freshly installed and fully updated Natty 64-bit base system,
upgraded by installing ubuntu-desktop. For the record (and for
others), running:
gconftool --set /apps/gksu/sudo-mode -t bool true
fixes it.

I can confirm that this bug still affects Natty as of Beta 2 (and that
updates installed after installing a Natty amd64 Beta 2 command-line
only system from the alternate CD still do not ameliorate the problem),
at least with the lubuntu-desktop package. I'll try installing the
ubuntu-desktop
I have confirmed that a fully-updated Natty i386 system installed from
the Beta 2 alternate CD as a command-line only system and then turned
into a desktop system through installation of the ubuntu-desktop package
