[Bug 691272] Re: IBM Thinkpad X41 & docking station >> no joy :-(
I have the same issues with a X41. If I use an older kernelversion (2.6.31), there aren't any dock and undock problems, but with the latest kernel in Maverick this problem still exist. Maybe there will be a workaround or solution for this bug? "expires in 36 days" ? I hope not - not as long as it isn't solved. For me this is important, albeit not urgent. But I would not like to see it being forgotten about ! [Bug 691272] Re: IBM Thinkpad X41 & docking station >> no joy :-(
Hi Jeremy Foshee, Thanks for your (automated) reply. I would like to help - but I have only a small SSD on my X41 and hence wouldn't like to install daily or nightly dev builds or mainline kernels - or even debian, for testing purposes - on my main up-to-date maverick installation. Would running the apport-collect -p linux 691272 command in my current maverick installation be of any additional help to you? Or has this already been done in the process of filing this bug? tp. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/691272 Title: IBM Thinkpad X41 & docking station >> no joy :-( -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 691272] Re: IBM Thinkpad X41 & docking station >> no joy :-(
Hi thinkpad, Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/current/ . If the issue remains, please run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux 691272 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. [This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.] ** Tags added: needs-kernel-logs ** Tags added: needs-upstream-testing ** Tags added: kj-triage ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/691272 Title: IBM Thinkpad X41 & docking station >> no joy :-( -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 691272] Re: IBM Thinkpad X41 & docking station >> no joy :-(
New data: I had another go at warm (standby) docking / undocking (with and without the DVD drive). First I was excited to have found a workaround solution: go into standby and then just press the mechanical eject (2) button (instead of the blue electronic button (1) ) - but that solution soon turned out to be only slightly more promising: The system wouldn't appear to crash immediately - however, it would _NOT_ go back into standby again (either it would end up showing the login-screen, or it would crash (half-moon blinking for eternity)), - when attempting standby in the undocked state. :-( Feel like throwing the docking station out of the window... but then: the hardware's not the problem: it works on windoze. :-( Anybody out there? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/691272 Title: IBM Thinkpad X41 & docking station >> no joy :-( -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

btw, the symptoms are the same even with the DVD drive physically removed from the docking station... thus, I think DVD / CD drive (un-)mount issues can safely be ruled out... ** Tags added: 10.10 maverick meerkat ubuntu -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/691272 Title: IBM Thinkpad X41 & docking station >> no joy :-( -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
