This affects me as well, but in the final version (kernel compiled april
11).
Had to boot my laptop with apci=off, then run sudo service lxde start.
Not the most serious of bugs, but only if you know what you're doing.

I've booted and installed Alpha 3 on an Intel mobo with i845 chip set.
Live session runs OK with 256 GiB RAM but installation requires more RAM
