Never mind, the .debs did show up a day later.
I still can't boot my server with them because (a) the (EVMS) dm_bbr
patch isn't included in the xen-source-2.6.19 package, and (b) when
added, the dm_bbr module won't build under 2.6.19 anyway ... but that's
an EVMS problem, not a Xen problem. =)

Hi Chuck,
I can see in http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/x/xen-

source_2.6.19-2ubuntu7.dsc have appeared, but no .debs?
Are we waiting on an autobuilder, or is approval needed from the release

Hi Chuck,
The feisty xen image (2.6.19-4-server and 2.6.19-4-generic) sadly do not
work for me, as they lack the CONFIG_BLK_DEV_DM_BBR kernel option - this
means that EVMS won't run under these kernels, and I can't start up my
domU's as they live on various EVMS volumes.
With the feisty freeze ju
Upgrading to 2.6.19 (from Feisty) solved this problem for me

Caspar: I tried Xen 3.0.4 binaries for 64 bit and I could run more than
2 domU without problems on Ubuntu LTS server (amd64); however, I had
confirmed this issue with Ubuntu Edgy packages before trying Dapper with
Xen binaries.
Thus, I'd say it's a problem with either Debian or Ubuntu kernel
patch
I am still investigating the same error on Debian edge and found a hint
there might be problems with a broken udev package not acting as
expected.
As this might also be a xen related bug I issued a bug report last week:

Please note, that It worked for me with the only thing replaced was the
kernel+modules, though that was 3.0.3, _everything_ else was from
ubuntu.

Maybe it helps telling you that the same error occurs on Debian (etch,
SMP, i686 on DELL Poweredge 2950 with 2 Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU (meaning 4
cores)). Xen installed from 3.0.4 binary release. As this is not my
first Xen install I'm quite surprised but'd rather guess its a Debian
platform provided
Well, we try to live with only one DomU atm, works in most of cases, but
not always, but we don't want to abandon Ubuntu (yet) and I really hope,
that this will be fixed asap, but as neiter importance is set nor the
bug itself is assigned... I don't wanna think louder and further :-(

Probably because this is the multiverse (or was it universe) tree.
A pity, yes. This problem forces me to abandon Ubuntu and use Debian. And once
I've configured it - I'm not keen to switch my production environment back
again. The more demanding user is being disappointed this way. What's better
Question: Why is importance still undecided? Looks to me, that there is
no plan to fix that and that's a shame imho...

I've seen the crash too (Core2Duo T6600) and the only way to work around
it for me was to completely remove all of Ubuntu's Xen stuff and install
the latext Xen 3.0.4 from source. Before, it would freeze when starting
the 3rd guest, now I can run as much as I like.

I've worked around this by installing the Debian Xen kernel package on

the Debian Xen tools too, but doesn't clobber anything Ubuntu specific.

Hi,
I already mentionned my problems with xen on a P4 with HT.

Phoenix is right.
Nab the binary package from xensource. You don't need to use the installer
script. Just use what's in the boot and modules directory.
And 'bobs your uncle'.
Well... it works for me anyway.

Well, this is not 100% accurate. FC6 ships with a Xen-enabled 2.6.18 kernel.
However, I have not tested if this kernel also crashes as discussed here.

Looking on the xensource.com pages _the only_ kernel for Dom0 is 2.6.16.29 even

I can confirm the crash. DomU are 2x Edgy installed via xen-create-image.
Kernel is xen-image-xen0-2.6.17-6-generic-xen0 (both Dom0 and DomU).
Hypervisor is xen-hypervisor-3.0-i386.
The kernel panic occurs regardless of which of the two DomUs is started
first.

I placed myself in same config as Dmitriy Ivanov, I disabled my
HyperThreading on my p4, and managed to run a 2nd domU, but more
interesting I managed a third DomU successfully
Here is my domU config (generated with the xen-tools packages) :
kernel = '/boot/xen0-linux-2.6.17-6-generic-xen0'
I installed xen on edgy and ran into this bug. When I turned
Hyperthreading off (P4 3Ghz) and managed to start 2 domU's without any
problems. But if I start third domU, dom0 craches.
