The problem lies most probably in package upstart-logd which is a package from
hardy - why would that still be there on a lucid system?
Please open a terminal and execute the following commands:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade -f

This can be a duplicate of bug 721306 and bug 614993 (and dozens of
similar ones)
If the package xserver-xorg-video-nouveau is installed, in several cases
the 10.04 to 10.10 upgrade fails with the error message
Could not determine the upgrade
An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating
Same Problem again after removing xserver-xorg-video-nouveau.Tell me other
option to salve this problem,
otherwise any other way to upgrade without formating the existing data..!
