mimeapps.list to /usr/share/gdm/applications.
  * debian/rules: Drop installation of bonobo .server for FUSA, this is all
obsolete.
  * debian/rules: Drop installation of debian/%gconf-tree.xml, which was
removed above.
  * Drop 35_langlist_and_lsmess_dmrc_fields.patch: This now needs to be
reimplemented in accountsservice.
  * 42_no_ecryptfs_autologin.patch: Update to gdm 3.0.
  * Synchronize patches with Debian:
- Drop 04_fix_external_program_directories.patch, replace with
  07_libexec-paths.patch.
- Add 93_xdg_data_dirs.patch.
- Add 01_language.patch.
- Drop 02_x_server_location.patch, replace with 16_xserver_path.patch. Set
  $X_PATH and friends in debian/rules.
- Rename 05_initial_server_on_vt7.patch to 06_first_vt.patch. They have
the same purpose, but ours is two magnitudes simpler.
- Add 08_frequent-users_greeter.patch.
- Rename 06_run_xsession.d.patch to ubuntu_run_xsession.d.patch; we don't
use Debian's Xsession script, but upstream's.

- Rename 14_guest_session.patch to ubuntu_guest_session.patch.
- Rename 20_upstart.patch to ubuntu_upstart_event.patch.
- Rename 26_no_debug.patch to ubuntu_no_debug.patch.
- Rename 39_grep_path.patch to 29_grep_path.patch just as Debian did.
  * Merge 27_save_root_window.patch and 28_plymouth_transition.patch into
ubuntu_plymouth.patch, to correspond better with its origin at

http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/gitweb/?p=gdm.git;a=blob;f=plymouth.patch;hb=HEAD
  * Drop 16_gdmserver_user_manager.patch, this info is now provided by
accountsservice.
  * Drop 32-hide-mouse-cursor.patch. It never really looked that much better,
and is unimportant now that gdm isn't even the default DM any more.
  * Drop 40_one_lang_option_per_translation.patch: gdm does not show a
language

[Bug 753707] Re: gdm autologin does not work in Natty if private ecryptfs directory used

2011-06-17 Thread Robert Ancell
Steps please.

The steps I used were:
1. Make a user 'test1' (using GNOME system tools)
2. Make a user 'test2' with fully encrypted home dir
3. Make a user 'test3', log in an add a Private encrypted directory
4. Set GDM to autologin as 'test1' and reboot
OBSERVED: Go straight to the desktop of user 'test1'
EXPECTED: ^^^
5. Set GDM to autologin as 'test2' and reboot
OBSERVED: Go to greeter
EXPECTED: ^^^
6. Set GDM to autologin as 'test3' and reboot
OBSERVED: Go straight to the desktop of user 'test3', Private directory needs
to be activated to access.
EXPECTED: ^^^

Don't worry checking, I've updated the patch for Oneiric to check if
both ~/.ecryptfs/auto-mount exists and ~/.ecryptfs/Private.mnt is set to
the home directory. That appears to be the method to check if the home
directory is fully encrypted.

And by the way, is this code shared with Ubiquity? I remember that when

not able to select autologin (it got greyd out).

[Bug 753707] Re: gdm autologin does not work in Natty if ecryptfs is used

2011-05-11 Thread Robert Ancell
Hi Tomas,

Yes, autologin cannot work if you use ecryptfs. This is because the
password must be entered to decrypt the filesystem, and autologin does
not prompt for a password.

Is the bug here simply that you have a ~/.ecryptfs but are not using
ecryptfs? If so, the solution is to make the check more intelligent.
Does anyone know what exactly we need to check for to see if ecryptfs is
in use?

[Bug 753707] Re: gdm autologin does not work in Natty if ecryptfs is used

2011-05-11 Thread TomasHnyk
Hi Roert,
I know it cannot work if you encrypt your whole $HOME directory, but there is
no reason it should not work if you have only one encrypted directory
(Private it is called, I am not sure now whether it is the default or my
name) in your otherwise unencrypted directory. It worked in Maverick after all.

So I think the bug is that assumption that .encryptfs means encrypted
$HOME directory is invalid. Therefore, the check should be more
intelligent, but I have no idea how to do that:-).

[Bug 753707] Re: gdm autologin does not work in Natty

2011-05-08 Thread TomasHnyk
I think I nailed it down. I have a ecryptfs directory from previous
install (I installed natty from a USB stick but preserved my home
directory). If I move $HOME/.ecryptfs somewhere else (i.e. mv .ecryptfs
Desktop), autologin starts to work. Of course, it is then no longer
possible to unlock the Private directory.

Can anyone confirm this or am I experiencing different bug than others?
