this is the case for me... my computer has been crasing (every 4 or five
days) and the only thing I could thing of is this bug (which still affects
me).
I have tryed the proprietary and opensource versions on the nvidia drivers,
not much difference...
probably related to this bug, my plymouth
I am also having the same problem in Ubuntu 11.10. compiz starts out
using about 63.2 MiB, but over a period of a day or so of uptime it
grows to 2.9 GB, just as comment #9 states. I have not yet found the
source of the growth, but am currently investigating.

I haven't had this problem in a while and I am unable to give a valgrind
report because my computer is too slow to use while using valgrind.

I'm seeing related problems. Unity, Java and firefox are all through
the roof in memory consumption. If left unconstrained, they will tear
through 3.6 GB in about 48 hours. Unity 2D is a little better.

Here too the same, with FGLRX compiz start at +/- 50 Mb, but after use
some time RAM use increase up to 1 Gb. Now Im using the opensource
drivers and compiz start at 26 Mb and after some use only 36 Mb.

There is an error on my comment, with FGLRX compiz start at 50 Mb and
total RAM used at +/- 300 Mb, after some use compiz go to +/- 150/200 Mb
and RAM to 1 Gb. With opensource compiz use at startup about 26 to 30 Mb
and after some use only go to 30 or 36 Mb. RAM start at 290 or 300 Mb
and stay
I have a simmilar situation with a variaty of video boards... Intel and
nvidia.

the compiz process on the 11.04 final release.

No, i am on ATI.
Actually there are lot of times i misread that because there are buffers
too, and i really need to see the right value :) I had reimaged my home
computer with kubuntu, but my office computer runs ubuntu .. here are
the stats
But i was surprised this morning when i saw
also just to add some more info - i am not using any propretiary drivers
from ATI (obviously their new ones dont work for the version of X we
have) , so its on the open source ATI drivers (xserver-xorg-video one)
