** Description changed:
Binary package hint: compiz
It started several days ago, I'm not doing anything special but after ~1 hour
of working window decorations disappear and don't want to return whatever I
do(except reboot). It's annoying.
I'm almost sure that this bug was reported,
I'll try the fix but I am able to reproduce it at will by using IntelliJ
Idea (either Ultimate or Community) by creating a new file in the
project navigator pane by using right click New File
Hope it's already fixed, but if not, hope this helps

window decoration disappear
To manage notifications about this bug go
Every now and then I have to go to Compiz configuration and uncheck
Windows Decorations then wait a few seconds then check it back (which
I guess is essentially the same as running compiz-decorator). This
brings window captions back.
I run gnome on 64bit Natty.

Yeah, I've been trying to fix this one.
Could you follow the instructions in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Apport#How to enable apport and
https://wiki.kubuntu.org/DebuggingProgramCrash and then let me know if
when the next time the decorations disappear you get a
unity_window_decorator_.crash file
Sam, it happens fairly frequently (once every day or two) when I'm
running IntelliJ IDEA, which is a Java Swing app running on Suns JDK
1.6.0_18 JVM downloaded from Suns website. Although I can't reliably
reproduce it, it tends to happen on certain interactions with controls,
for example, I'll
Also, which debug symbols package should I be installing? I've
installed compiz-core-dbgsym, and libdecoration0-dbgsym, not sure if
either of those are right?

Same problem here, happens both with Unity and Gnome. When it happens
in Unity, the screen flickers and many windows completely disappear, but
after doing something like enabling the workspace viewer, they reappear,
but performance seems to suck after that point. Running compiz-
decorator fixes
I just happened to catch this error when the decorations disappeared:
(unity-window-decorator:4912): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid
unclassed pointer in cast to `GObject'
(unity-window-decorator:4912): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_get_data:
assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed
Same happening to me. Launching compiz-decorator solves it for me too.

I'm having this too. If I run compiz-decorator in a terminal, the
decorations come back. Not a permanent solution, though.
