I have tried some solutions before i found this bug,
An extract of metadata made with exiftool (libimage-exiftool-perl
9.46-1) shows an important difference on a document that displaying
dates right, and one sample print-to-file, the tags for PDF related date
info is totally missing:
After 5 years from my first comment above, the annoying bug is still here.

I'm noticing this on ubuntu 12.10 (32-bit)
In addition to the print to file, this bug affects several programs, at
the very least SImple Scan and Inkscape.
When viewing the pdf properties with evince, it says the pdf was created
by libcairo 1.9.5

Just upgraded to Ubuntu 12.10 using libcairo2-1.12.2-1ubuntu2 on Ubuntu 12.10
64bit and the printing date is still Jan 1st, 1970 00:59:59 CET. My timezone
is set to CET or at the moment CEST.
The pity is I have no other cairo using OSes by hand so I am afraid I cannot
proof whether the bug is
I forgot to mention, actual version of libcairo I am using actually is
libcairo2 1.10.2-6.1ubuntu3 and printing date Jan 1st, 1970 00:59:59
CET apperas on each system 32bit and 64bit.
Greetings, Michael

I still see this issue in 12.04 and it seems the bug is based on the
Cairo lib, since it also occurs on other programs creating PDFs based on
libcairo like Inkscape
