This was caused by buggy and misconfigured bios, I cannot reproduce it
anymore and system runs stable with same kernel.

steps? Can you also please attach the output of 'sudo lspci -vv', 'sudo
lspci -vvn', 'sudo dmidecode' ?

I cannot manually reproduce this, but is has happened twice now. This is
probably a hardware related issue because Edgy kernel started to behave
strange as well.
I recently had to replace my GFX card and fglrx drivers are causing all
sorts of weird issues.
