[Bug 880504] Re: Pixel bugs in xfce panel
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. ** Changed in: xfce4-panel (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/880504 Title: Pixel bugs in xfce panel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xfce4-panel/+bug/880504/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Launchpad has imported 6 comments from the remote bug at https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8119. If you reply to an imported comment from within Launchpad, your comment will be sent to the remote bug automatically. Issues are magnified. Hi. I want to report a small graphical issue that appears on the right or bottom edge of auto-hidden panels. There are two or three black pixels apparently for no reason that disturb the nice look of the desktop. There is no way and no particular panel configuration that can fix it. I can only set a 100% black color as panel background, obviously, covering that issue. Or I can set the panel no-focus opacity to 0% (but I prefer not doing it). I'm attaching a sample screenshot. [Bug 880504] Re: Pixel bugs in xfce panel
The text hinting option in Settings Manager was set to None. I can't remember exactly what I changed it to, but something other than None, obviously. Immediately, the bottom part of my autohidden panel turned to black. Changing the hinting back to None had no effect, so the panel has been looking incomplete ever since. However, every time I unhide the panel, it shows up complete, without any problems. I'm not using compositing effects in the window manager, in case that makes a difference. ** Attachment added: The bottom-left corner of my screen after fiddling with font hinting https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-panel/+bug/880504/+attachment/2598091/+files/panel-bug-c.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/880504 Title: Pixel bugs in xfce panel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-panel/+bug/880504/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 880504] Re: Pixel bugs in xfce panel
The same thing happens with my vertical panel on the left edge of the screen: when it is hidden, three pixels toward the bottom of the panel are missing, or more precisely, drawn black. See attached screenshot. (I only changed the colour of the panel to bright green to make it more obvious in the picture.) Here's another thing I noticed: when I opened the Xfce Settings Manager, entered the Appearance screen and changed the font hinting setting, my autohidden left panel lost more pixels. It looks like the bottom part of the panel starting from the already-black pixels changed to black. I'm attaching another screenshot. ** Attachment added: The bottom-left corner of my screen with vertical panel in autohide mode https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-panel/+bug/880504/+attachment/2598088/+files/panel-bug-b.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/880504 Title: Pixel bugs in xfce panel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-panel/+bug/880504/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 880504] Re: Pixel bugs in xfce panel
Dear Lionel I am attaching a screenshot (not magnified or reduced) of the top right- hand corner of the desktop with the panel in its autohide position. If you open the png image and zoom in sufficiently, then you will see that there are actually three pixels missing (not one as I wrote above). The screenshot also shows that in autohide, the panel has a height of 3 pixels, and it appears there is no manner in which this can be reduced to a perfectly adequate and less intrusive 1 pixel height. (Note: In the gnome desktop, autohidden panels are 1 pixel high). I have tried all sorts, but at the moment when I place the mouse over the panel, it expands without showing any pixel defects. As I wrote, from time to time, however, the expanded panel misses all its pixels to the right of the gap visible in its autohidden mode. ** Attachment added: Screenshot top RHS of xfce desktop, showing damaged xfce panel in autohide mode https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-panel/+bug/880504/+attachment/2568958/+files/Top%20RHS%20Desktop%2C%20Panel%20in%20Autohide%20Position.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/880504 Title: Pixel bugs in xfce panel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-panel/+bug/880504/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
