Public bug reported: I've choosen a Surround setup (HDMI 5.1) via sound preferences, and I got a problem. Some channels were inverted. I used the Hardware "Test speakers' to verify. The center sound was appearing on the rear-left, and so on... The only right channels were front-left and front-right.
After search about this problem on the internet, I found this site: http://www.bunkerhollow.com/blogs/matt/archive/2011/06/18/zotac-nd22-xbmc-hdmi-audio-configuration-in-ubuntu-11-04.aspx The first weird thing is that the mentioned file, /usr/share/pulseaudio /alsa-mixer/profile-sets/nvidia.conf, doesn't exist on my machine, although I don't know if it were supposed to exist. After search for some similar file, I fixed the problem change the file /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/profile-sets/extra-hdmi.conf. I did what was suggested, commented the channel-map line and put a new one, as follows: ;channel-map = front-left,front-right,rear-left,rear-right,front-center,lfe channel-map = front-left,front-right,front-center,lfe,rear-left,rear-right I'm reporting this because I think there is a way to detected the sound board and do it automatically. My board is: 00:08.0 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP79 High Definition Audio (rev b1) Just let me know if you need more info!
