As of now, the default un-semimaximize action maintains the same
dimensions as the semimaximized state. Is this by design? It feels
broken; or am I just not grokking it?

Just to add to this. If I drag the window to the edge of the screen, so
that it then snaps to fill half the screen, I get this problem where I
can't the resize the window as Vadim demonstrates above. If I use the

Yes, it's reproducible. Like I already said, you drag a window to a side so
it's half-maximized, and then try dragging the other border to make it
wider - you won't be able to.
