[Bug 892524] Re: easycap kernel module; 12% dropped frames while playback
Since kernel 3.7 the easycap driver module is replaced by the stk1160 driver module which doesn't suffer from this bug anymore. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Fix Released ** Tags removed: needs-full-computer-model needs-upstream-testing staging ** Tags added: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.7 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/892524 Title: easycap kernel module; 12% dropped frames while playback To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/892524/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 892524] Re: easycap kernel module; 12% dropped frames while playback
** Description changed: While playing any video source with the EasycapDC60 device (with or without audio playback at the same time) ~ 10% frames are dropped with mplayer (and also if the Easycap is used with VLC or Tvtime). I suppose this issue is related to the staging/easycap kernelmodule. [Bug 892524] Re: easycap kernel module; 12% dropped frames while playback
aschalk, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.11-rc5 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: needs-full-computer-model ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/892524 Title: easycap kernel module; 12% dropped frames while playback To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/892524/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 892524] Re: easycap kernel module; 12% dropped frames while playback
Josef, there is no easycap module in the mainline kernelpackage! (I read in the CHANGES file, that many changes have been applied o the driver.) Ok, I tested the linux-image-3.2.0-030200rc2-generic_3.2.0-030200rc2.20151435_i386.deb Kernel from the mainline directory and even the daily built Kernel from today, but in both packages there is no easycap module. The kernels were booting without any problem. So, after plugging in the Easycap DC60, dmesg reported, that only the snd_usb_audio module was loaded. (I even could not find any easycap.ko in the /lib/modules/3.2.0-030200rc2-generic directory) Regards Andreas Von: Joseph Salisbury joseph.salisb...@canonical.com An: andreassch...@yahoo.de Gesendet: 17:25 Montag, 21.November 2011 Betreff: [Bug 892524] Re: easycap kernel module; 12% dropped frames while playback Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel?
