Jockey has been superseded by software-properties, which now handles third-party driver configuration. The slowness has been solved since a while now. ** Changed in: system-config-printer (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid ** Changed in: jockey (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You

I'd like to design a solution to this, but there are too many unanswered questions at the moment. 1. What did Martin Pitt mean by one of the next cycles? Did he mean 12.04 LTS, and if not, should the problem be fixed in system-config-printer? 2. Does the problem also occur in

It also seems like, if nothing else, a message like This can take a long time, please don't cancel may mitigate the issue, and be somewhat easy to implement. ** Changed in: control-center (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Canonical Desktop Team (canonical-desktop-team) -- You received this

This does not seem to be very relevant any more, as in one of the next cycles we'll drop the system-config-printer GUI and use the gnome- control-center one. So I just unassign for now. ** Package changed: control-center (Ubuntu) = system-config-printer (Ubuntu) ** Changed in:

Jeff, we need improvement on the response times of the OpenPrinting web server. They are also rather long for requests via the web query API (query.php, which is used by the printer setup tools for finding drivers to download automatically). Before the security breach at the Linux Foundation the
